Our Ministries

Our various ministries at First Baptist Church are simply an extension of our love for God and others. In every ministry, from children to adults, from individuals to community outreach, we are motivated by a genuine love and want to serve God and others. That may take the form of a teaching ministry or a fellowship ministry or a ministry to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. In each ministry that we support and participate, Christ is at the center. It is our desire to see Christ proclaimed, worshiped, honored and exalted in all that we do at FBC.
D-Life (Men's and Ladies' Small Group Bible Study)
A men's and ladies' small group meets weekly to gain a deeper understanding of the Bible through reading God's Word together and discussing it using a D-Life book which guides each participant through the Bible. There are readings throughout the week working its way through the Bible during the year with areas for personal reflection. During the weekly meetings, the book and discussion group focuses on one of the previous week's chapters and works through a series of thought-provoking questions. Small group is vital to spiritual growth as it is a chance for us to wrestle with God's Word and discuss it from our own level of understanding and unique ways to apply its teachings. Learn more about the devotional book here.
Sunday School (Kids, Teens, & Adults)
Before the Sunday morning church service begins, we have various Sunday School classes based on age. This is a time to gain a deeper understanding of an area of Scripture or Biblical topic lead by the teacher, but also highly encourages participation by everyone there! This is a time of sharpening each other and communal growth in God's Word.
Redemption CCG
Redemption is a collectible card game where the heroes of the Bible are used to rescue Lost Soul Cards and must overcome the Evil Characters of the Bible that oppose them. It is a very strategic card game similar to Magic: the Gathering, except every card is taken directly from the characters, places, and ideas of Scripture and each card has a verse on it. It is an excellent way for Christians to get a more thorough knowledge of Scripture (ever hear of King Zimri? You have if you played Redemption!) and it is an engaging way for non-Christians to be exposed to the Gospel. Check out the
Northwoods
Northwoods is a local nursing and rehabilitation home located at 7 Keeler St., only a few minutes from our church. We visit them monthly to sing spiritual songs, offer a brief devotional, and be a Godly encouragement. This is one area where we can demonstrate the love of God to those who need it and serve our community.
Steadfast (Prayer Ministry)
Every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., we meet to pray for our church. This is not your typical prayer meeting filled with requests for every aliment that affects us; this is a time to focus on the greatness of God and to pray for His will to be done in our church. We are obeying the call to "Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving." (Colossians 4:2 AMP) Our time of prayer is directed by wonder at the greatness of God, repentance at our failure to worship Him as we ought, thankfulness as His work of grace in us, and petitions for the strength and reach of our church and its members.
